She's Like a Rainbow

Yo... check it out, Dog:

Item One for your review is the more or less fully drawn image of Big Maria I (Plane Too Many). Don't be alarmed that it looks less like the actual girl than the previous version did. She comes and goes. She's like a rainbow.

(How 'bout that Keith Richards mixing some of his father's ashes into some coke and snorting it? The mind reels.)

And the spectacle continues thusly:

What you see here is the black background painted above the arch. What may be less obvious is the white enamel background that's now painted inside the arch, surrounding her head.

Step Two is then to drizzle a royal blue over both the black and the white, with the hope that the dimensions of the arch will remain clear as the black and white peek out from under the blue. To give you a sense of the effect we are shooting for, check out the blue sections of background behind the eponimously named "Blue Stephanie."

The idea, which turned out to be a flawed one, was to create a checkerboard effect behind her head. But you can see how the blue looks against the black. Lovely.

The plan, such as it is, is to then continue painting in ever smaller concentric circles. Not circles in the most technical sense, obviously, but rings. Semicircles, if you will. Which means that the next thing to come will be her veil, this time in black again.

Over top of the black I'll drip some dark red. Then that little band of white, then we're into the brown of the hair, then we're into the face itself, then we're into her upper lip and flume (!!!!).

She comes in colors everywhere, obviously, but for those of you slightly out of the ecclestiastical loop, red and blue are the signature colors of the Virgin Mary.

Quick rewind. Immediately following "Step Two" as noted above will be to inscribe the "Todd..." language around the rim of the arch.

And the complete lyrics, as you can probably guess, are, of course:

She comes in colors ev'rywhere;
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors
She comes in colors ev'rywhere;
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors
Have you seen her dressed in blue?
See the sky in front of you
And her face is lik a sail
Speck of white so fair and pale
Have you seen a lady fairer?
She comes in colors ev'rywhere;
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors
Have you seen her all in gold?
Like a queen in days of old
She shoots her colors all around
Like a sunset going down
Have you seen a lady fairer?
She comes in colors ev'rywhere;
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors
