Norman Rockwell at Sotheby's
He sold a couple last night, one for 46-Large. And change. Which is plenty for anybody.
But the one that caught my attention was called "Walking to Church" ...
What makes it interesting is that Rockwell drew from several buildings in Troy as he constructed the street scape. I'm looking around before it gets too dark to see if I can find them.
It was also suggested that he drew inspiration from this Vermeer ...
Which, I suppose is possible, although I'm not sure I buy it.
Who doesn't find Vermeer inspirational?
In the general sense, no one. But I'm having a tough time making a link between the two paintings, other than the color of the bricks.
Look deeper, friend. Look deeper.
