Slowing down
Have you ever written a book?
I have. A western titled "Long Road to Nowhere." An unpublished classic if ever there was one. Anyway, back in the day I read some advice about writing books. The best bit, I thought, suggested that the closer you get to the end of your book the slower you should be writing. Just when it feels like time for the surge to the finish, slow down, do it right, take your time. Remain calm.
Best advice ever, applicable to at least 80% of life, came from John Wooden. "Be quick, but don't hurry."
Anyway, I'm sitting in the studio staring at my painting and thinking, "If I finish it tonight, what am I going to do tomorrow?"
Man, that made me put the paint stick down in a hurry.
